Name and shame time!

Remember this blog here?

Well it seems our “friend” at ebay has had 458 negative feedback this month alone, infact just google fastmemoryman.

Ebay’s reply came back as they can basically do nothing … beware this seller and avoid at all costs.

Yea, fmm sucks. Wish I found this stuff before he got my cash :( Paypal claim filed…. Just hope the people I bought the replacement from are better. At leasst they dont have a “this-seller-SUCKS.com”….

  2. “Dear **********,

You have chosen to escalate your dispute to a PayPal claim. By ending
communication with the seller, you are asking PayPal to investigate the
case and decide the outcome. As part of our investigation, PayPal reviewed
any communication you may have had in the Resolution Centre.

Our investigation into the following transaction is complete. As stated in
our User Agreement, the claims process only applies to the delivery of
goods. It does not apply to complaints about the attributes or quality of
goods received. Therefore, we are unable to reverse this transaction or
    issue a refund. ”

    ……….

So basically overcharging massively on delivery does not breach their terms … anyway I filed an additional complaint and referenced google links about the re-lableing of products I clearly satted this was fraud.

    Paypal responded:

PayPal does not tolerate fraud or illegal activities. Your complaint has
been noted in the record of the PayPal member you reported. If we find this
member has violated our policies, we will investigate and take appropriate
action. If this occurs, you may be contacted in the future about the status
    of this complaint.

To make sure future transactions proceed smoothly, we suggest you visit the
PayPal site and click the Security Centre link located at the bottom of any
page. There you will find tips on how to avoid fraudulent sellers in the
“Fraud Prevention Tips for Buyers” section.

    Yours sincerely,

    PayPal

So the guy is _flagged_ at least …

  3. To cut a long story short…

Bought faulty ram in UK, had to RMA it in USA… cost more money than the item.

    After many emails

They agreed it was faulty and sent out another faulty ram 6 weeks later.

Raised dispute with them on ebay, closed it after a week of getting nowhere fast and left it to ebay to take action.

Now 3 days later FASTMEMORYMAN is no more :)

His ebay account is now closed, I am guessing I was just that one dispute too many.

I shall keep an eagle eye open incase he starts up under a new username.

  4. Thanks Paul!

It’s great to see that finaly this guy is gone!

  5. “Seller:

    No longer a registered user”

    *rejoice*

  6. Peter Jones says:

well, still with all that negative points that you righteously declared, the fast memoryman had a positive side of providing some cheap stuffs for poor-man computer lovers, most of the time of accepted average standard. Now we are at the mercy of kingston value rams and other big businesses in the on-line shopping of digital goodies.

I should add that he sent me the wrong item in one occasion from Birmingham, but he replaced it though i had to spend two second class stamps, using his own bags.

  8. Hi Peter,

I wish I could say this was an isolated incident, but fastmemoryman did a fine job of conning a lot of people,

    and many many more: http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=fastmemoryman

There are even ebay guides, detailing that people should avoid him, and what to do when they are conned.

The bottom line is fastmemoryman was taking faulty stock and selling it as reduced prices, and abusing systems to extort more money, as in this case with postage on myself.

Buying a faulty batch of stock for next to nothing, and selling it on as “working” will get you exactly what fastmemoryman had, about 10% negative feedback, but this added into the thousands, were it not for the abuse of systems, and fradulent relableing of products this seller would still be on ebay.

In my case charging £16 for a £0.52 stamp … fact of the matter is, if I was an “one off”, I would not of blogged this, as can be seen by the large collection of links above and available on google, this is not isolated, and it was about time ebay did ban this seller.
